Amy’s Story – Lupus & Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis…

Amy suffered from inflammatory diseases such as Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis and Lupus. Cutting the sugar, wheat and refined carbohydrates out of her diet improved her pain, inflammation, and lab values. Her diet is not just LCHF alone. She also has cut out some of the most inflammatory foods from her diet. This is not necessary for everyone wishing to achieve results on a low carb diet. Helena’s Story – Diabetes and Inflammatory Arthritis…

Helena suffered from Type 2 Diabetes and Calcium Pyrophosphate Deposition Disease (CPPD, aka chondrocalcinosis). Despite three diabetes medications, her blood sugar was out of control. And the pain from her CPPD required she take pain medication three times daily. Despite all these medications, she continued to grow sicker. In fact, she was so sick that her family was discussing her retirement!

Things turned around for Helena when she began a low-carb, high-fat diet (LCHF diet) taught in our course. Within one week, her blood sugar had decreased from the 300’s to the 100’s. Within three months her hemoglobin A1c had decreased from 9.7 to 7.4. And her diabetes doctor was stunned, asking her if the 4th diabetes medication had caused the change. She was happy to tell him she did not require the 4th medication. Instead, this dramatic turnaround was caused by her low carb diet.

The biggest surprise for Helena was that her joint pain from Calcium Pyrophosphate Deposition Disease slowly improved and has now almost vanished. She went from 3 pain pills daily to 3 pain pills per week. And finally she now takes only 3 pain pills per month.

Now that Helena has her blood sugar and pain under control, she has a new lease on life. She is no longer contemplating her retirement, and she is, “looking forward to 60 more than she was looking forward to 50!” Now that’s really saying something.

Dr. Bowman’s Story – 40 Pound Weight Loss…

Dr. Bowman is like a lot of us. He was a busy physician with a busy family life. My Story – Down 40 Pounds…

Before and AfterI almost forgot my story! Three and a half years ago, I was one of those thirty-something physicians slowly growing obese adding 5 pounds a year. My wife was kicking me out of bed for snoring, and I knew it was because I had gotten too fat!

That’s when I remembered something from medical school. If you stop eating carbohydrates, then your metabolism turns backwards and burns fat. So that’s what I did. I lost 40 pounds in about 6 months and have kept it off since then.

It was so easy for me, and I felt so great, that I wondered why I had not been taught this weight loss regimen in medical school and internship. That’s when I decided to do all the research into low carb and LCHF diets. Turns out, low carb has been the preferred method of weight loss for over 150 years.
